I am reading “The Dark Side Of The Light Chasers” by Debbie Ford. It’s based on the Jungian premise that we can’t live up to our full potential if we deny our shadow side. “You’ve got to learn how to give all of who you are permission to exist.”
Makes sense right?! But not so easy.
Here’s the funny thing – it’s a no-brainer that we accept a friend’s, a family member’s, a new partner’s personality with its good sides and its bad, “warts and all”. We know we have to accept the good with the bad in others, so why do we try so so hard and relentlessly to edit ourselves?
I haven’t finished reading or reached any conclusion yet. But I think for me that is the work ahead of me, finally accepting my shadow side as well.
